What are the Basic Rules for the Ponydex?
- Please do NOT use stock or photos from Hasbro for ponies. These are photos that you yourself have not taken, or do not have permission to use. Any records found with stock photos will have their image removed.
- If you upload an image with more than one pony in it, please make sure to note which pony is which in the "Notes" section of the record. Also, please keep it to only ONE pony per record!
- Please make extra sure that any information you input is correct. Data entry errors cause the search function to bring up incorrect results if everyone doesn't make sure to put all the information in correctly. Ponydex admins will occasionally search through the Ponydex to insure that all records are properly inputted, and any errors will be changed and noted, but it is ultimately up to the users to ensure their records are correct.
- Please note, any records found not to conform to site rules will be subject to edits from Ponydex mods. Any edits made will be noted in the "Notes" field.
- Accounts must be confirmed after registration before they can be accessed. An administrator will review your registration as soon as possible after submitting.
- Linking Images - Please be sure that if you are using another service to host the images of your ponies that they allow linking to those images! If they do not or you are unsure, please feel free to have them uploaded here.
- Uploading Images - All images that are uploaded should be no more than 750KB in size.
- If you have a Pony listed for Sale/Trade, you must have a picture uploaded with it!
- Please keep all comments clean - PG-13 folks! Any comments found to be distasteful or inappropriate will be edited!
How do I use this site?!
Well hopefully it's easy to figure out just by navigating around ^_^ If you want to keep track of your own ponies, then the first thing you need to do is register! Once you receive back your confirmation, then here's how you can get started:
- Login! You'll notice the sidebar on the left now has more options for you!
- Click on Add Pony (tip --- If it's your first pony entry, clicking Manage Ponies will do the same thing!)
- Fill out as much information as you can on the Pony. If you have a picture, feel free to upload it (max file size is 750KB!) or link to it from another site such as Photobucket.
- Once you're done, click Add Pony and the system will update, and take you to that ponies record!
- You can click Add Pony again (there are two places this shows here, on the top menu bar for the record, as well as on the side bar!), or if you have another Pony that's identical, try clicking the "Duplicate This Pony" button - it'll make a new record for you to update that has everything already filled out, based on the current record you're viewing!
- When you're done viewing your ponies, just click on "Manage Ponies" on the sidebar - you'll be greeted with a table view of every pony you have in your collection. You can sort how they appear by clicking on the header for each column - so if you want to sort by Value, just click the "Value" header, and viola! All your ponies will be sorted in Ascending Order based on value! Want the highest value first? Click on the "Value" header again and that's exactly what you'll have!

How does the Search function work?
The search function is designed to narrow down the list of ponies that you'll see in the Ponydex. Every field that you choose an option for is another way to narrow it down. So if you're looking for Adult Earth Ponies that are MIB and for sale, that's exactly what you would select from the search option!
- For the box labeled "Body" choose Adult Earth Pony
- Change the "Condition" box to MIB
- Finally, "For Sale" needs to be changed to "Yes"
- Click Search!
That's really it. After clicking search, it will present a table view of all the ponies that met your search. To clear your search results, simply click on Ponydex from the sidebar!
You forgot this Body Type/Year/Country!
Ooops! If you find that there's an option that should be there, but isn't, use the Contact Us page and issue a Technical request, stating what option is missing. An administrator will be able to add it in ASAP!
What is the Pony Gallery?
The Pony Gallery is way to upload up to 4 high-resolution pictures for each of your ponies, so that you can really showcase them off! There a few limitations to this feature:
- Each image has a file size limit of 2MB.
- Unlike the regular Pony Images, each gallery image must be uploaded to the Ponydex server.
- Again, unlike the regular Pony Images, gallery images may not be links to other sites, nor can you request to have the images "leeched" from another server.
With that said, feel free to upload those galleries!

How do I get a spreadsheet of my Pony collection?
When viewing your Profile, scroll down and click on "Create a new spreadsheet available for download." This link will run a script that will take all the Ponies you've entered into the Ponydex and create a "tab-delimited" file that is easily imported into spreadsheet programs, such as Excel. This file will stay on the server, available for you to download via your Profile page - which will also report the date it was last created, and will offer you a link to create a new spreadsheet should you update your collection.
When opening this file, you will be asked how to import it. The default options that show up should be fine, but just in case, here they are:
- Character Set: Western Europe (Windows-1252/WinLatin 1)
- From Row: 1
- Seperated by: Tab

What features/updates can we expect?
Features and updates are constantly in the works, and anytime something changes, expect an announcement for it on the main page! But for all you inquisitive minds out there, here's a few lists for you!
Features
- Add thumbnail view for Pony Avatars when in table view.
- Add a search agent for the wishlists - Activating the search agent will have it look through all Pony records that are available for Sale/Trade and will see if any match what is in your wishlist.
- Favorites - Clicking a "Favorite" button on a Pony in the Ponydex will add it to a Favorites list in your profile page.
- Statistics - For those like Geekswordsman who just like numbers, a page that shows all sorts of figures such as total ponies by type, most valuable ponies, and those sorts of things!
- Polls/Surveys section where the Admin staff can post Polls and Surveys for the Ponydex members to respond to, including adding their own comments to each one.
Is the Ponydex mobile compatible?
The Ponydex was designed by scratch, using the simplest methods possible with as little Javascript (currently no JAVA in use at all) as possible. The result is that yes, from what I have heard the Ponydex is mobile compatible. At the moment, I have been able to confirm that it works on iPhones.
